Picture Messaging FAQs
Picture Messaging is the ability to take a picture or video from your capable phone and send it to other Golden State Cellular Picture Messaging customers as well as to any email address. You can also dress up the photos you send with text and voice.

Yes. If you have a capable phone and the Picture Messaging service you will be able to use Picture Messaging immediately. You can take pictures wherever you are, and send and receive Picture Messages while you are in the Golden State Cellular CDMA Digital Network.

Will I be able to receive a Picture Message if I don't have a Picture Messaging phone?
No. You must have a Picture Messaging phone to receive pictures. However, if you don't have a camera phone, and someone sends you a picture message, you will receive a text message giving you a URL to go to and view the picture.

Can I send a Picture Message to someone from another mobile network?
Not at this time. Text messages can still be sent to users of other wireless networks, but Picture Messages between other wireless service providers is not available today.

Can I send pictures to an e-mail address?
Yes. All you have to do is type the email address on the address line of your phone.

Can someone send a picture from an e-mail address to me?
Yes, but the size of the picture is limited.

Can I take and send pictures anywhere in the country?
You can take a picture anywhere you are - even outside of the United States . But, you can only send and receive Picture Messages when you are within the Golden State Cellular CDMA Digital Network.

If I have my Picture Messaging phone turned off, will I still receive Picture Messages?
Yes, you will get the message. For example, if you're traveling out of the area your Picture Messages will be stored for up to three (3) days. As long as you turn on your phone within that time period while in the Golden State Cellular CDMA Digital Network, your messages will be forwarded. All picture messages not opened within three days of being sent will be deleted.

What size are the pictures/videos I send and can I change the size?
The file size of pictures taken with your picture messaging phone will vary based on the picture resolution and quality settings within the phone. Video resolution on video messaging phones cannot be changed. Refer to the phone's user guide for more information on these settings. Maximum size permitted is 325kb.

Can I control how and when I receive picture/video messages on my phone?
Your picture/video messaging phone is configured to automatically download and display new picture/video messages. You may configure your picture/video messaging phone to notify you when a new picture/video message is received ("prompt mode"). When in prompt mode, before a new picture/video message is downloaded to your phone, you will receive a non-billable notification that includes the sender's email address or phone number, and gives you the option of downloading the picture/video message, delaying download until a later time, or rejecting the picture/video message. If you reject the picture/video message, it will not be downloaded and you will not be charged for that message. For instructions on how to configure your phone to prompt mode, please refer to your phone manufacturer's user manual.
