FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 06-27-11: Jamestown, California. Golden State Cellular
Announces a “Fraud Alert” – A scam reported by cellular carriers across the country has surfaced in the Mother Lode. How it works: An individual randomly dials a cellular customer and announces themselves as a representative of the company and offers a prize or discount. They then ask for information to verify the account such as name, password, last four digits of social security number, etc. Armed with the proper information they then call the carrier and represent themselves as the customer and request changes to the account allowing them access. Golden State Cellular would like to make consumers aware of this situation and suggest using caution when receiving a call requesting this type of information. One of the easiest ways to confirm the identity of the caller is to ask for their name and number and tell them you will call them back. Make sure the number is a verifiable “published” number. For instance, GSC customers would be instructed to call 611 from their GSC phones or to contact our call center at 800-453-8255. Both could be confirmed by visiting our webpage.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 09-16-10: Jamestown, California.

Golden State Cellular Announces Data Roaming Agreement with Verizon Wireless.

Coming on the heels of their recent 3G Mobile Broadband expansion, Golden State Cellular announces a reciprocal Data Roaming agreement with Verizon Wireless. Golden State Cellular customers will now have the ability to access features such as: picture messaging, email, internet, social media updates and more nationwide on the Verizon Wireless network, widely credited as being the most expansive and reliable cellular network. In addition Verizon Wireless customers will now be able to access the same data features while on the Golden State Cellular network in the Mother Lode. This is a huge benefit to our area as more and more consumers make access to technology a must have priority when deciding where to travel, recreate, vacation, do business and even relocate.

“The data roaming agreement is great news for Amador. After we met about problems, Golden State responded to the challenge to provide better service to the residents and visitors of the area and I appreciate their efforts. As technology advances it’s important to make sure our rural communities aren’t left behind.”

From Assemblymember Alyson Huber

“Tuolumne County Economic Development Authority has made a commitment to promote and encourage a technology-friendly business environment to retain, attract and grow our businesses. When talking with potential businesses and investors, access to technology is one of their primary requirements. In a rural and demographically diverse area such as ours, having a valued local company like Golden State Cellular investing in our telecommunications infrastructure is a wonderful step into the future.
This type of technology can bridge the technological gaps in low population areas, provide communications where travel is difficult and harsh weather prevents travel. Businesses and residents will have more dependable access to online educational opportunities, research and jobs. This announcement by Golden State Cellular to provide improved access to mobile data services is an asset our residents and businesses. We congratulate Golden State Cellular for their accomplishment.”
From Tuolumne County Economic Development Executive Director Larry Cope

Verizon Wireless is the largest cellular carrier in the United States with over 83 Million subscribers.

About Golden State Cellular
Golden State Cellular, along with their partners, provided the first landline telephone service in the Mother Lode some 100 years ago and was the first to provide cellular service in the Mother Lode. Golden State Cellular continues to exceed the consumer’s expectations by providing the largest network and coverage available in the Central Sierra and Nationwide.
