FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 03-20-12: Jamestown, California. Golden State Cellular
announces recent placement of a temporary cell site, or cell on wheels (COW), at the CAL FIRE Academy in Ione. As Golden State Cellular is the local area cell service company that provides roaming for Verizon, CAL FIRE made the request as a way to improve Verizon Cellular coverage at the Academy to support a new training program being developed, designed to improve response to hazardous situations. According to CAL FIRE, the new training course, AAIM, is a CAL FIRE led multi-agency, multi-discipline and federally funded program which will assist Incident Management Teams when dealing with wildland fires and all-hazards emergency incidents locally and nationwide. Golden State Cellular and CAL FIRE have worked together in the past on COW placement in support of firefighting operations in remote areas.

Golden State Cellular, along with their partners, provided the first landline telephone service in the Mother Lode some 100 years ago and was the first to provide cellular service in the Mother Lode. Golden State Cellular continues to exceed the consumer’s expectations by providing the largest network and coverage available in the Central Sierra and Nationwide.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 06-27-11: Jamestown, California. Golden State Cellular
Announces a “Fraud Alert” – A scam reported by cellular carriers across the country has surfaced in the Mother Lode. How it works: An individual randomly dials a cellular customer and announces themselves as a representative of the company and offers a prize or discount. They then ask for information to verify the account such as name, password, last four digits of social security number, etc. Armed with the proper information they then call the carrier and represent themselves as the customer and request changes to the account allowing them access. Golden State Cellular would like to make consumers aware of this situation and suggest using caution when receiving a call requesting this type of information. One of the easiest ways to confirm the identity of the caller is to ask for their name and number and tell them you will call them back. Make sure the number is a verifiable “published” number. For instance, GSC customers would be instructed to call 611 from their GSC phones or to contact our call center at 800-453-8255. Both could be confirmed by visiting our webpage.
